What would your time cost?
A different kind of return.
A shorter commute. A day for your own project. Help with something you would happily hand over. Compare the money and time inside two ways of arranging your week.

Assumptions & how the numbers work
A month is 52 ÷ 12 weeks. Enter each arrangement’s take-home income explicitly: fewer hours do not automatically mean proportionally lower pay. Money after work costs is not disposable income; housing and other living costs are not deducted here. Differences in benefits, pension contributions, job security, care responsibilities, and energy are not assigned a price. Hours regained are an opportunity, not guaranteed leisure.
Monthly committed time = (weekly working + commuting hours) × 52 ÷ 12. Effective earnings = (take-home income − work costs) ÷ committed time. When time is regained and income after costs falls, the tradeoff is that monthly reduction ÷ hours regained. The optional help example is separate and does not change the work comparison.
There are no external price, wage, or return figures in this calculator. All starting values are invented examples.
